MARKHAM, ON, April 26, 2012 – Quality Respiratory Care (QRC) in Saint John, New Brunswick will receive the ALS Society of Canada’s Marcel Bertrand Exceptional Support Services Program Award (group category) for the company’s extraordinary efforts to help those living with ALS, during an awards ceremony to be held at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel, Toronto, on April 28.
Quality Respiratory Care (QRC) provides a wide range of services to clients throughout southwestern, southeastern and central New Brunswick. Mirroring the objective of the ALS Society of New Brunswick, QRC aims to improve their clients’ quality of life.
“We had a client who was outside of their service area, and we did not have any ‘recycled’ equipment available. QRC donated the equipment from their own equipment pool, and developed a service agreement that saw them travelling hours outside their service area to support that client. This would not be the last time they went out of the way to support our clients, or outside their service area,” said Carol Cottrill, former executive director, ALS New Brunswick.
QRC staff works with the society to learn more about their programs and services and continues to work with ALS clients to ensure their needs – respiratory or otherwise – are met.
